Hello! Today we bring you an article about the well-known Australian designer Simone Haag. Simone’s has an amazing holiday home in Phillip Island and moves every now and then to it with her husband and two young daughters. It is relaxed Australian beachside living at its best!
This property belonged to Rhy’s, her husband, parents and it means a lot to them. They married at ‘The Island’, they made regular trips to it, and this place became very close to them It is possible to see why the couple love the place so much.
As Simone and Rhys knew the place so well, the renovation was really easy! ‘Swift and enjoyable’ she says. The bones of the place were kept, changing small things on the place instead of trying to move everything!
With the help of Greener Kitchens, Rhys change some internal cabinetry, choosing to stain plywood doors black for a bold, dramatic look. All the floors were painted white, and all lights replaced – Simone’s all-time favourite, Bumling pendant from Sweden – which hangs over her dining table.
On her Instagram account, she posted ‘so many of the decisions were ‘design by committee’ which was really enjoyable!’.
This place is completely different from her Melbourne home. The first one is more ‘Californian cool’ and the second was Scandinavian inspired. ‘You really feel the shift in gears when you come here’ she says. ‘The place lacks in any form of amenity such as wifi, a dish washer or heating, microwave or air con – but we always make do!’
