Cecilie Manz was the chosen designer to get the award of Designer of the Year 2018. Every year, the furniture trade show makes a comeback and with it reveals the outstanding name of the design is making itself known in the world of interior design.
In this year’s M&O the outstanding talent of the Danish designer wasn’t missed and it certainly didn’t escape our radars! The talented designer draws inspiration from everywhere. Despite her country life, the travels she makes from the city to the quietness of her home inspired her to create.
Experimenting with new materials, exploring original functions, every new design is a brand experience – with a close relationship with the manufacturer, a simple visit to the production line may redefine the result and technique used.
An adapter of the warm minimalism, the designer, approaches the Scandinavian design is a close way. According to the designer it “should reflect the actual lifestyle of these countries”.
The subtle play on shades of grey and the association with brighter colours are the living proof of that. Creating a specific colour palette to every new creative process, each piece is created without any superfluous thing in mind focusing on the uncluttered lines.
Each view is unique, each item has a life of its own, and that’s why Cecilie Manz was the chosen one. “I view all my works as fragments of one big, ongoing story where the projects are often linked or related in terms of their idea, materials and aesthetics, across time and function.Some objects remain experiments or sculpted ideas, others are made more concrete and turn into functional tools.
