Hello! Have you ever heard about Neri&Hu?  They are an inter-disciplinary architectural interior design studio based in Shanghai, China and they provide architecture, interior, master planning, graphic, and product design services. One of their best works is Shanghai’s Chi-Q restaurant.

A metallic table and wooden dining chairs sit in the middle of the space, and large glass bulbs are suspended at intervals overhead.

The studio says “With its unique composition of light, shadows and reflective patterns that evoke the canopy of a forest, the warm-toned metal ceiling is the defining feature that runs throughout the entire dining space,”.

Wooden beams also lead the eye upwards to a metal panelled ceiling, while strip lighting placed on the walls emphasises the height of the atrium.

“With a deep understanding of materiality, the striking atmosphere inside the main dining space recalls the richness of Korean cuisine – both space and food representing a balance between the delicate, the raw and the vibrant,” added the studio.

Other projects developed by Neri&Hu in China, included a staircase for Bloomberg’s Hong Kong office, and the interiors for a Shanghai burguer restaurant inspired in the classic 1950s diners.
